Privacy Policy
How Inchess handles account, authentication, course, sharing, security, and support data.
Data Minimization
Inchess aims to collect and retain only the information reasonably needed to provide, secure, improve, and defend the service. We do not require users to provide a legal name, age or date of birth, home address, phone number, tax identifier, government identity document, payment details, or demographic profile to create a standard account.
Please avoid uploading unnecessary personal data about yourself or other people in courses, comments, profile text, images, or legal reports.
Data We Collect
Depending on the features you use and the information you choose to provide, account data may include email address, account identifier, authentication information, nickname, avatar, language or country preferences, email verification state, and legal acceptance records.
Service and user content data may include courses, chess lines, annotations, PGN, comments, reactions, library organization, access permissions, share links, uploaded images, video URLs, learning progress, review progress, and profile information you choose to provide.
Legal, report, support, technical, and security data may include report submissions, support messages, moderation records, account-safety events, device or browser information, request timing, approximate network information, and other diagnostic information needed to operate and protect Inchess.
Why We Use Data
We use data to create and secure accounts, authenticate users, verify emails, provide course building and learning features, manage course sharing, store user content, send necessary account email, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, maintain security, respond to legal reports, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and improve the service.
Legal Bases
Where privacy law uses the concept of legal bases, Inchess relies on performance of a contract to provide account and course features, legitimate interests to secure and improve the service and prevent abuse, consent where a feature asks for it, legal obligations where retention or disclosure is required, and protection of rights and safety where necessary.
Cookies And Sessions
Inchess uses authentication cookies and related security mechanisms to keep users signed in, protect sessions, and route users through required account steps such as profile completion, email verification, and legal acceptance.
Sharing With Others
Public courses, shared courses, comments, nicknames, avatars, and related engagement data may be visible to other users according to the access mode selected by the course owner or by product behavior.
We may disclose data when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse or security issues, to respond to a credible legal request, or to enforce our policies.
Service Providers And International Processing
Inchess may use service providers for hosting, storage, email delivery, authentication, security, monitoring, legal operations, or infrastructure. These providers may process data for Inchess only as needed to support the service.
The service may process data in countries other than your country. When that happens, privacy protections may differ from local law, and Inchess uses reasonable safeguards appropriate for the service and the relationship.
Retention
We keep data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain course access, preserve security, satisfy legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, investigate abuse, and maintain backup or recovery systems. Legal acceptance records, moderation records, security records, and legal reports may be retained after account closure when necessary for compliance or dispute handling.
Retention periods vary by data type, account state, technical constraints, legal requirements, and backup cycles. Inchess does not promise immediate deletion from every backup or record.
Your Rights And Choices
You may stop using the service, log out, update available account settings, delete or edit available user content, or ask for account-related assistance. Depending on the laws that apply, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of certain personal data.
Some requests may require identity or account verification, and some data cannot be changed or removed when retention is needed for legal, security, integrity, backup, anti-abuse, or dispute-resolution reasons. Use the Inchess legal report form for privacy and personal-data requests.
Minors
Inchess is intended for chess study and course collaboration. Inchess does not generally ask users to provide age or date of birth and does not verify age.
Inchess is not intended for unsupervised use by children under 13. Users who are not old enough to use the service independently under the laws that apply to them may use Inchess only with approval and supervision from a parent or legal guardian, or from an authorized school, club, or organization where permitted by law.
If you believe a child or minor's personal data has been submitted without appropriate authority, use the legal report form and mark the child or minor checkbox.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards for account and service data, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and devices.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. Material updates may require renewed acceptance before protected features are available.
For privacy, personal-data, and related legal requests, use the Inchess legal report form.
